How we research, write and correct our guides

Nutrition content is only worth reading if you can see how it was produced. This is the whole process.

Last updated 25 July 2026

This policy describes how content on Starbucks Calories is researched, written, reviewed and corrected. It applies to every page on the site, including the calculator.

Where our figures come from

Nutrition values are built from published nutrition information for the current menu, expressed per ingredient rather than per finished drink. We store approximate values for each milk per fluid ounce, for each syrup and sauce per pump, and for each topping as a fixed addition.

A drink total is then assembled from those parts: the milk volume for that size, the default pump count, the espresso shots, and anything added on top. This is why changing the milk in the calculator produces a different number rather than the same number with a note attached.

Why everything is called an estimate

We describe every figure on this site as an estimate, and we mean it literally. Three things make exact figures impossible:

  • Regional menus differ. Recipes, sizes and available milks are not identical worldwide.
  • Recipes are reformulated. Seasonal drinks in particular change from year to year.
  • Drinks are made by people. Pours and pump counts vary between stores and between shifts.

Our numbers are close enough to compare options and to understand which ingredient is driving a total. They are not close enough to be used as a clinical reference, and we say so on every page that carries them.

How recipes are tested

Copycat recipes are made at home before they are published. Ratios, quantities and method reflect what actually worked in a normal kitchen with equipment a reader is likely to own. Where a result is close but not identical to the original, the guide says so rather than overselling it.

Review and updates

Every guide carries a visible publication or update date. Pages are revisited when the menu changes, when a reader reports a discrepancy, or when we notice a figure has drifted out of date. Updating an article changes its date; we do not refresh dates without changing content.

Corrections

We correct errors as soon as we can verify them. If you believe something here is wrong, email info@frappcalories.online with the page and the figure you expected. Substantive corrections that change a published number are noted on the page itself rather than quietly edited away.

Corrections are the fastest way to improve this site. A reader telling us that a figure does not match their local menu is more useful than any amount of internal review, because it surfaces regional differences we cannot see from here.

Advertising and sponsorship

This site carries advertising, which pays for hosting and the time spent maintaining it. Advertising is served by third-party networks and is clearly distinguishable from editorial content.

We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage, positive framing, or inclusion in a guide. No brand has any influence over what we publish or how we describe it. If that ever changes, this policy will change with it — and any paid relationship will be disclosed on the page it affects.

Our independence from Starbucks

Starbucks Calories is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Starbucks Corporation, and it receives no funding, data or editorial input from them. Starbucks and the Starbucks logo are trademarks of Starbucks Corporation, used here for identification and commentary only.

Use of AI tools

We use software to help with drafting, formatting and checking arithmetic. Every published figure and claim is reviewed by a person before it goes live, and the editor named on this site takes responsibility for what appears on it. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated content.
